In one neat entry we combine the picks of KASMS and Penelope Edmund for their top artists of 2009.

KASMS’ Top Ten (Myspace)

Gummy Stumps - not sure where to start…probably with Gummy Stumps…god there are too many good bands this year (Myspace)

Dorian Gay -……..new as well, they might make me feel like an old lady and the name might have put me off but their Fang cover rules (Myspace)

Foot Village - interviewed them last week, they are menacing on stage and cool in life (Myspace)

Plug - kicking lame girl bands in the ass since 2007 - Their album is being recorded now, I am supposed to be on it doing some kind of shout out….

Spin Spin the Dogs - had an album this year out on Gringo it’s amazing (Rory recorded it) (Myspace)

Faith No More - Mike Patton is always a treat but combining the Eastenders theme tune was the highlight of the summer

The Jesus Lizard - reunion of the year! Rachel went on a pilgramage to NY to see them and I caught them at the forum

The Shitty Limits - Best New band in ages (Myspace)

Not Cool - No actually these are the best new band in ages (Myspace)

Cold Pumas - No actually, actually these are the best new band in ages………….. (Myspace)

Penelope Edmund’s Top Ten Albums of 2009: (Myspace)

10. Thunderheist - Thunderheist

9. Pylon - Chomp (2009 DFA Re-issue)

8. Comanechi - Crime Of Love

7. Zinc - Crack House

6. Tiga - Ciao!

5. Superthriller - Moods

4. Coco Electrik Presents (Podcast) - February 2009 Mix (not really an album, but this mix is AMAZING!)

3. V/A - Dirty Edits Volume 2, Edited by Pilooski (technically released late ‘08, but sooo 2009)

2. Glass Candy - Deep Gems: Singles, B-Sides & Rarities

1. Fever Ray - Fever Ray I started listening to Fever Ray by Fever Ray at a time when I was feeling fiercely un-motivated and moody! So naturally the rich, intense landscape this album offers was the perfect way to a) self-indulge and b) kick my brooding arse back into writing new material.
