> SO SO MODERN (Wellington New Zealand)
Last time they toured in UK, last year, they caused quite a stir and turned
all the right heads: A high velocity artrock punk-funk four-piece with ...
the imagination of Foals, the attitude of Devo, the complexity of Liars, the
dancing IQ of Daft Punk and the insane energy of Polysics and with four
keyboards on stage, vocoder, guitars, drums. Even NME got it right and were
impressed
"A bit like Futureheads playing Chic songs, at double-speed, with utterly
nutzoid bits ... and performing them like B-boy cyber men."
Doing as the antipodeans do by hanging around in Europe on tour for week
after week (to tour with Robocop Kraus).
“A furious fusion of bleeps, guitars and whirlwind drums, they sound like At the Drive In disassembling Battles and Holy Fuck” – Rob Webb, NME
“The band mix excitable post-new-rave head rushes with DIY aesthetics…a synth-tastic party” – Metro
“Individually ripened nano-slices of tech-pop ably syncopate Swans, Klaxons and Shy Child…stellar” – Greg Cochrane, NME
“Schizophrenic synth psychos…a complex melange of truncated beats and stupefying rhythms that mash n’ mosh together with the uneasy peril of a sexed up New York Dolls leap-frogging Rick Wakeman in a sauna” – The Fly
“Like nothing you’ve ever heard before, this Kiwi quartet are the best thing to come along since pulled pork burritos. With yelps that will shock the Rapture, high pitched synths that will drill a new dimension in your brain, and punk rubdowns aplenty, this collection of 15 singles is so damn good, it’s quite scary” – Dazed and Confused
Debut album 'Friends and Fires' is out now on Transgressive Records.

> PLAAYDOH (Glasgow)
There's no denying Glasgow four-piece sound like a scary bunch of heathens. It's a breath-taking noise they produce but wait .... just like the mighty My Bloody Valentine there is the strongest sense of song and melody underneath the lo-fi racket they make. Distorted guitars are back to back with toy instruments, post-punk bass and drums grooves are simplistic and minimal grooves recalling ESG, Slits, and Ron Johnson records 80's output. Ranted and shouted riot grrrl-esque refrains get their teeth into your ears and subconscious. Their home recordings, available on the wonderfully named Winning Sperm Party Records, are chock full of ideas and instuments. Alongside Wetdog and Le Tetsuo, keeping the lo-fi faith alive. Their debut visit to The Artrocker Club. Appropriately the new release 'Motown/Farmies' is a Cassette Only single release.

> LOAD CLICK SHOOT (Barnstaple)
We (Artrocker) said that 'load.click.shoot! are about to explode like a disco volcano, projecting highly flammable and devastating molten synth-rock lava across every surface they come across.' New ferocious recordings by this foursome prove they might just do that. Already developing from a post-hardcore art-punk band with metal riffing somewhere between Test Icicles, Blood Brothers and Forward Russia the tunes and keyboards are now onboard to good effect. There are broken disco beats, yelped triple vocals, and twisted and entwined guitar and keyboard lines behaving like the bastard offspring of Help She Can't Swim's abrasive pop and Shit Disco's punk-disco. Winners of our Artrocker unsigned band competition.
Best new band in Glasgow, by a mile!
...Any more snooker cliches?
...Second track sounds like a more snarly mid-60s Who. Excellent.
...First one sounds like Sean Ryder having a flashback but second track is a killer.
