Heather Till witnesses The Music's bizarre ability to transform calm rational people into a huge steaming quagmire of dancing bodies. Something tells us she's one of them too...
Friday night at the Astoria was the first time in a very long time that I’ve seen a crowd in such a frenzy.
Amongst a sea of sweat soaked bodies and showers of beer coming from all directions, Rob Harvey gave a not-so-gentle reminder of just why fans love The Music. It was loud. It was tight. And it was absolutely masterful.
"The vibe was so intense that it was virtually impossible to maintain any kind of clarity..."
‘Freedom Fighters’ flipped a switch in a crowd that was almost creepy, with everyone thrashing around following the frontman-turned-energy-ball around the stage.
Clearly enjoying himself, and the state of the crowd, Harvey leads the way through old favourites including ‘Breakin’ and ‘Welcome to the North’ – the latter of which incited the crowd to loose their shit and go totally mental.
Even newer tracks ‘Fire’ and ‘Strength in Numbers’ rolled off the crowd’s tongues as if they’d been singing them for years, and when the first chord of ‘The People’ rang out, well, you’d be living in crazy-land if any part of your body was stationary.
The vibe was so intense that it was virtually impossible to maintain any kind of clarity. See you at the next show then? Abso-f&*king-lutely!
