Orgone Accumulators – Good Advice EP

This has to be one of the more bizarre things that I’ve come across in a while.

The premise of the Orgone Accumulators is that there are a team of researchers on the banks of Loch Ness hard at work to decode ancient alien transmissions which contained music – this being the result of the process to allow humans to hear the waves, or something.

The EP itself is just over ten minutes long, and has literally zero words. The tracks themselves sound like some sort of spooky cartoon-goth techno. The sort that you might find in the opening or closing credits to an off-the-wall post-modern Addams Family remake from the States.

Never Whistle While You’re Pissing’ has a chilly jungle sound – the type that you would find accompanying Crash Bandicoot in a ‘serious’ dark level on the Playstation of old.

As their own Myspace says:

[some say it sounded] like an ambient Cramps whilst others thought it sounded like a cross between surf and techno. One researcher said he thought it was complete bollocks and sounded like the work of some amateur bumbling away in his bedroom. “

To be honest, I’m torn between the latter view as well. Is this some sort of obscurity that you only find in foreign cities where everyone is off their keg on some continental pop drug, as you down your twenty-somethingth Ouzo?

Probably.
