PUBLICIST

The solo project of Trans Am/Weird War drummer Sebastian Thomson is a full on, gale force, discospacefunk dance party in your pants. To behold this dude pounding the kit shirtless and raw, live and direct from the dance floor, is to behold the beauty of the beat. sechz-ay!

HESTA PRYNN (In Civil Shepherd)

If NYC’s Northern State are the female Beastie Boys, then Hesta Prynn is totally Ad Rock. Much like her male counter-part, her cheeky, nasal rhymes could be obnoxious but are delivered with enough charm, wit and spunk to earn her extra special lovin’ from the listener. Cutting a different kind of cloth on her new solo project but bringing the same kinda sass, Hesta channels Le Tigre’s more melodic moments and leans on some stellar indie connections to create classy electro pop thats not out of place with the current crop of charting chanteuses the UK has to offer. Her list of colloboraters read like a hipsters wet dream and includes production by Chuck Brody (Lykke Li,Shitake Monkey) & Jon Siebels (Kenan Bell), vocals by Tim Harrington (Les Savy Fav), rocking out by Brooklyn’s Bear Hands, drums by Gnarls Barkley’s Eric Gardner and is all overseen by Sara Quin of Tegan & Sara. Read it and weep, guy!

GAGGLE

Kind of like the Mediæval Bæbes on a diet of sci-fi, acid and marlboro reds, Gaggle are a 21 + choir of fearless, feminist creatives and intellectuals hungry for your attention. They’re not doing badly so far, the attention of Radio 1’s new music champion, Huw Stephens has helped them secure late inclusions to the bill at Latitude and Field Day as well as an all important Radio 1 Live session, all before they have even cut a musical disc too. While the novelty factor is undeniable, the guidance and song writing talents of creator/choir mistress Deborah Coughlin (586) should steer them clear of any dodgy ground and onto the road to success. WIN!

INTERNET FOREVER

Internet Forever are the lo-fi indie-pop cuties from London town catching the eyes and ears of all the right people on the DIY scene and they are sure to catch the hearts of you too. Well actually, they say they’re “Good at songs and bad at fidelity“, so they may just break them but lover, heartbreak never sounded so good. Internet forever and ever and ever, Amen!

PENELOPE EDMUND

Hackney dwelling, soloist Penelope Edmund makes her spiky, tropical, electronic punk at home on her jacks using whatever cheapo equipment she can lay her hands on. This is no amatuer noise though and stands up to anything similar Berlin or the like has to offer. stand tall, east london! Big up yourself, Penelope!
