If you weren't a winner there are still tickets available. Check MySpace.com/BoringByTheSeaFestival for details...

Artrocker.com asked you to send us interesting facts about Weymouth to win a Plus 1 at this summer's fantastic 'Boring By The Sea Festival' [Future Of The Left, Good Shoes & The Teenagers Headline] and we were not disappointed. England's great because no matter what preconceived notions you may have about a place, it's been there so long that there is a guaranteed history...unless you're in Milton Keynes...in which case Stelios and Paul Ince have got you covered!
First our winners. Ella Sutton writes "Did you know that a foreign ship that docked at Weymouth in 1348 is believed to have brought the Black Death!" I did not know that, it's technically not a fact which is what we asked for; but in terms of significance you can't really beat that.
Sarah Wakely says "I'm hoping you don't already know that the sailing events of the 2012 Olympic games will be held at Weymouth :)". I do not already know that. I thought The Olympics were in London? You'd better be paying extra council tax or whatever it is we have to pay for that thing!
Congratulations Sarah and Ella! You will have a great time at Boring By The Sea!
Other notable facts include...
"Did you know that many of the questions for the original 'trivial pursuit' game were researched in the public library in Weymouth?" I got that one a few times, I'm guessing it was right there at the top of Wikipedia? "Weymouth has SEVENTEEN visitor attractions" I think I have 17 visitor attractions in my garden. Meh. "Bobby Davro lives there [Weymouth], as does one of Bananarama, and the architect Christopher Wren was born there. Otherwise no-one of note has come from Weymouth in a looooonnnnnggg time.", "Itβs the only port in the world to have hosted the tall ships race 3 times", "There was also a great news story in 2005 saying that the Wallace and Gromit movie posters were not allowed to have the word 'rabbit' featured on them in Weymouth, as local superstition says that they're bad luck as they cause landslides. [NEWS STORY]". This could be my favourite of the non-winners [losers] "Weymouth's population increased by 316 people between 1990 and 1999".
If you didn't win and live in the Weymouth area, or want to spend some time in the Weymouth area (after those stats who wouldn't?) then tickets are still available from SeeTickets.com and further details can be acquired from MySpace.com/BoringByTheSeaFestival.
