Strange Death Of Liberal England, Joan As A Policewoman and more - Singles for the week beginning June 2!

Released 2nd June 08 on various indie schmindies

Texas Pete puts on his snakeskin boots and takes us for a ride through this week's singles. Which band will sound like The Fratellis gone to the dogs? Which band will confuse his cattle with their pop genius? Find out here!

SINGLE OF THE WEEK: THE STRANGE DEATH OF LIBERAL ENGLAND / ANGELOU (FANTASTIC PLASTIC)

What the tootin' faced sons of a bitches do we have here! These boys have gone and delivered a single full of pasty faced vocal whimpering, weird marching band drums, and pirate ship fantasies! I don't claim to understand it, but damn my wild roosters to hell if it isn't single of the week!

"I'll play this one to the cattle I think, that'll keep the bastards happy..."

THE WIRELESS / HE'S SO PROUD (REDEMPTION)

Holy hooting hell! This is a blast of wild water rapid ridin' energy if ever I did hear one! Er... ok. Let me think about this. The singer sounds a bit like that dandy fella' from The Cure, while the music is kind of... darn! It's like dark indie, like The Fratellis gone to the dogs!

MYSTERY JETS / TWO DOORS DOWN (SIXSEVENINE)

I'd better not play this one too loudly, or the old lady next door might think I'm sending her subliminal messages! Damn! This is a feelgood pop record! I'll play this one to the cattle I think, that'll keep the bastards happy. Although they might think they're in the 1980s, which might confuse 'em. I don't want confused cattle on my land!

JOAN AS A POLICEWOMAN / TO BE LOVED (ECHO)

Well who the hell is Joan, and if she's a police woman, why in fried chicken's name is she making such soft and beautiful grooves like this? I played this to my wife and she goddamn nearly thought I was proposing babies! You're a good lady, Joan, saved my damn marriage nearly!

ROSIE ODDIE & THE ODD SQUAD / COLA COKA (BLOODY AWFUL POETRY RECORDS)

Well I'll be damned if I never heard a more poppy single this week! What the hell is this lady called again, Rosie? Wooo! She's a feisty one! She's got devil's legs on her! This is a poppy number, kinda like Alphabeat with a few more experimental ideas. Damn, I like this! It's grown on me!
