London welcomes The JD Set Back with Malcolm Middleton

The JD Set returns to London’s Luminaire on Thursday 12th June when Jack Daniel’s presents acclaimed Scottish singer songwriter Malcolm Middleton.

Malcolm Middleton is best known as being one half of cult Scottish indie band Arabstrap. However, with a string of highly acclaimed solo releases including 2007’s ‘A Brighter Beat’ and this year’s follow up ‘Sleight of Heart’, he has became famous in his own right for his raw and humorous style of indie. Most notably, fans threw themselves behind the campaign to get his alternative festive single ‘We’re All Going To Die’ to the Christmas number 1 spot, as the antidote to the X Factor generation. His live performances have brought him global fame anyway, and his JD Set appearance will see him fresh from a tour in Australia and New Zealand.

The last JD Set in London took place in March with local lads Art Brut. The sell out gig was attended by We Are Scientists’ Keith Murray who took to the stage for an impromptu live performance with his pals. Back in November, Jack Daniel’s also hosted to The Courteeners, Friendly Fires and Vincent Vincent and the Villains amongst others in the Luminaire.

The JD Set is a series of nationwide gigs that feature hot new bands who are rocking the underground. They launched in 2002 by way of celebrating Jack Daniel’s well respected association with music that began when Mr Jack himself created the Silver Cornet Band in 1892. During its illustrious five year history, the JD Set has played host to artists such as CSS, The Wombats, Hot Club De Paris, Futureheads, The Courteeners, Editors, Maximo Park, Team Waterpolo and Foals.

24 bands from this year’s JD Sets will form part of a Channel 4 series currently broadcast every Friday after midnight until 27th June. Peter Hook is joined by TV Presenter Rick Edwards to discuss whether these new bands will take on the heady mantle of musical icons of the future.

Music fans should click on TheJDSet.co.uk for info on forthcoming gigs, the chance to win tickets and signed memorabilia and to view exclusive footage and photo galleries from the JD Set.

Know when to unplug, please drink responsibly.
