Accidents Never Happen + New Black Light Machine + King Of Conspiracy

13th May - Buffalo Bar, Highbury Corner

> ACCIDENTS NEVER HAPPEN (Oslo Norway)
> NEW BLACK LIGHT MACHINE (London)
> KING OF CONSPIRACY (Paris France)

> ACCIDENTS NEVER HAPPEN (Oslo Norway)
Relocated from Oslo to Liverpool to find an audience who'd understand the challenges of artful rock'n'roll, these four Norwegian artrockers have, very much like felow Scandinavians Jakobinarina, started causing a stir. Mixing up blazing Sonic Youth/Fugazi guitars with a dubby funkiness drawn from PiL and Talking Heads it's both epic in feel but pop in delivery too, a Bunnymen and Mighty Wah! influence being felt for sure. 'Oslo Beat' on Sheep Records was their debut album released last year to critical acclaim but not as much profile yet as their progressive artrock deserves. Their moodier, chiming guitar workouts also display a certain resonance with post-hardcore and post-rock instrumentation sensibilities. "It Made sense Yesterday" is a new self released single out now.

> NEW BLACK LIGHT MACHINE (London)
Formed in Pontypool, South Wales. A place famous only for being Syd Barrett's last ever gig with Pink Floyd and the place that probably tipped him over the edge. Channelling some of this madness and taking inspiration from obscure garage, post punk and no wave, songs have evolved into an intense, uncompromising set. Described as Joy Division meets The Birthday Party live show's focus on energy and use art as an aggressive act to shock people out of their complacency. With skittering funkiness and minimal aesthetics, white noise and distorted guitars and organs and a Mark E Smith penchant, a new Xeroxed Teens is born. Whether synth drones, post-punk abrasion or krautrock simplicity, we call it artrock.

> KING OF CONSPIRACY (Paris France)
Anguished and jet-propelled art-punk from this spiky trio from Paris. Determinedly DIY, they have toured UK independently before and are now back for 20 straight dates including The Great Escape Festival. Mixture of quiet/loud, clean/distorted US hardcore/alt guitar aesthetics of classic SST, Dischord, Alternative Tentacles bands of the 80's and 90's. Whether skittering ponk-fink rhythms or old school garage rock riffs everything is delivered with fire and passion and the precision of Shellac / Mclusky post-hardcore sounds - primitive yet intelligent. A self released album "Noisy sounds and heartbeats" is available now.
