we are THE physics - ... are ok at music

Released: 2008-05-05 on This Is Fake DIY Music
ARTROCKER RATING:
You’ve got to love a band that creates its own musical genre - especially when it’s ‘mutant science punk rock’. And aside from their belief that the fact that three of them are called Michael is something special, everything else about We Are The Physics is spot on the money. Tight, shouty, muchos guitar, and a little more hardcore than The Futureheads, this band are carving a niche in that there ‘mutant science punk rock’ (and probably the more mainstream indie tag too).
if you’ve got the stamina, these Glasgow lads have got the tunes...
‘Less Than Three’, the second track on the album, is a raucous incantation that sets the marker for the rest of their debut LP. Expect no ballads, nor weeping in your handkerchief moments, nor time to stop and think. This is a resolutely upbeat album that’s constantly in-your-ears, making you want to shake your tush in a robot kind of way. If you find yourself standing still to ‘You Can Do Athletics, BTW’ on a Friday night, just give up - it’s time to go home. But if you’ve got the stamina, these Glasgow lads have got the tunes.
