I can’t work out if this is good or hideous, in the way that the bit on Later with Jools Holland when the bands all play together can often be a bit of an embarrassing trainwreck.

Javelin kind of pulled the short stick on this one, saddled with the unenviable task of revamping "In Heat," Get Color’s bruising, grating, noisebomb of an opener. Dudes take the difficult source material in stride though, finding a sweet spot somewhere between old school b-boy fodder and squishy nu-funk synth twinkling.

Paul Weller in the mix! No, those words still don’t sound quite right to us either, but this brace of reworkings by London bassheads Zinc and Leo Zero is doing much to mess with our preconceptions: the former placing Weller’s gruff vocal in an alien realm of bass-heavy house, the latter in more familiar, heartfelt Northern soul territory. Both were put together to herald the release of a new Weller album - Wake Up The Nation will be with you in April.

In an effort to get message boarding bros to vote for MGMT in some meaningless poll, an indie music fan of the popular band MGMT promised to show off her alternative breasts to bros who were hanging out on 4chan.
The Lonely Island is widely known as the modernized bro-ified version of Weird Al Yankovich adapted for the modern world bc they make zany viral videos. Their brand of humor is the ‘it’ style of humor for teens on the internet across the USA. Julian Casablancas, lead singer of the Strokes ‘collab-ed’ with the Lonely Island on a song called ‘Boom box.’ I am not sure if this video is supposed to ‘be funny’ or if it is supposed to be a ‘real song.’ Probs just the opportunity to make a zany video.
The Strokes were widely considered the #1 band of the 2000s, so it will be interesting to see if this viral video promotion hurts or helps the Strokes + JCasablancas solo project. Maybe this was some sort of strategic attempt to be part of the new ‘Dick in a Box’, getting over 100 million viral video views. Wonder if modern tweens who never heard the hit album ‘Is This It’ are becoming familiar with the Strokes brand, or if they will just think they are some weird old band like The Cars.
