Guest editors The Maccabees review demos from The Shame, Stagecoach & The Firm (no, not that The Firm).
THE MACCABEES UNSIGNED ACT OF THE DAY: THE SHAME
FELIX: Orlando has some kind words for this band.
ORLANDO: Yes I do! i thought it was pretty good. I'm not usually into screamo, but this one sounds pretty good.
FELIX: They sound fun!
ORLANDO: Yeah, they're spirited.
"The voice sounded like Rhys from Good Shoes at one point - even though it's actually a woman! So that's a good thing."
FELIX: Vanilla Ride made us feel nostalgic, because there's a photo of them playing at The Pleasure Unit - and that was where out first gig was. The voice sounded like Rhys from Good Shoes at one point - even though it's actually a woman! So that's a good thing.
ORLANDO: I think they sound a bit like early Blur. Or maybe Kaiser Chiefs - but then that's exactly what early Blur sounds like anyway!
FELIX: Early Blur's good!
FELIX: They have a drummer called Marcin Kasjanowicz - and that's good enough for me! It's a always thing good to support bands who have a rhythm section of eastern European descent.
ORLANDO: They sound a bit like Adam and the Ants.
FELIX: If there was only some tribal drums and chanting...
ORLANDO: Oh, hang on, it doesn't anymore. For a second it did!
