Nick Cave

The following is a complete chronology of the various line-ups of the multinational post-punk/alternative rock music group Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (briefly "Nick Cave - Man or Myth?"[1] and later "Nick Cave and the Cavemen"[2]) formed in late 1983 in Melbourne, Australia, by five musicians, including several former members of the group the Birthday Party immediately after this band's demise, thus seen as its continuation.

Nick Cave Latest News

Last year the most Twittered event of the first day of the festival may have been the bed bugs that were present (thankfully no reports this year!), but this year the most talked about moment of the day came very early on when Nick Cave joined the Dirty Three for their performance of Ocean Songs. For the press that were in the room early we got a sneak peak as Cave’s white, grand piano was...
At the beginning of 2k8, I made a post about bands I did not listen to in 2k7. Now it is 2k9, and I will make a list of bands that I did not listen to in 2k8. It is important to understand that you are a consumer in a wide open marketplace. You allegedly have tons of options, with lots of music 2 listen 2. However, it is important 2 recognize that u usually ‘judge a band by itz name...
As the year winds down (or up, depending on half-full or half-empty glasses and whatnot), so does this blog. The Top Albums of 2008 countdown is over, and with this final installment, my weekly mix year-end round-up is now finished. This collection of mixes features themes on solo artists, travel, Scandinavia, autumn, 4AD, more synthpop, literature, more dance, more cover versions, Halloween,...
Headless Heroes consists of a group of artists working together to create/recreate music for music’s sake. The group’s lead voice is Alela Diane and the mission is to produce gloriously fresh creations of older songs that may have gotten lost in the cracks of time. The group covers a wide range, spanning over forty years, from "Daniel Johnston, The Jesus & Mary Chain and...
So, we’ve come to the second last installment of my Top 40 Albums of 2008. Before plunging into the fray once more, I will attempt to remind you of what music the summer of 2008 brought with it. July kicked off with releases by Beck, The Black Ghosts, Ratatat, The Hold Steady, and an excellent Kitsune remix album by Digitalism. The month ended with albums from post-punk veterans Wire, Css,...

Nick Cave MP3s

A couple weeks ago, we brought you an exclusive, new Adam Green track, "Rich Kids," in which Green strums comically about "life and Codeine with the tonality of a burnt-out bluesed-out uncle of Nick Cave." This week, to change it up a bit, we had Mr. Green craft a playlist of his favorite RCRD LBL artists. His RCRD LBL selection has a light, optimistic air to it, comprised...

Well there goes another year and with a new one about to begin it’s a good time to reflect another year over and a new one about to begin it’s time to reflect on the year just gone and consider the top 10 tracks that rocked the Devil’s world. How will history judge the world of 2008? The beginning of the end of global capitalism with the world’s financial system in...
And so we’ve reached the end of this year’s journey through my top albums. Before we get into the top eight, I’ll try to sum up which albums released in the last few months of 2008. September brought offerings from Jenny Lewis, Mercury Rev, People in Planes, Butch Walker, No and the Maybes, Glasvegas, Santogold, Jon Ryman, Metallica, Chairlift, Kings Of Leon, and a sophomore...

Nick Cave Reviews

The Mars Volta opened the BBC Radio One/NME stage in the early evening, bouncing onstage to acrobatics on the drums. I have a foggy recollection of seeing them years ago supporting some Scottish band, and not being impressed, so pleasantly surprised to see my expectations weren’t met in this case. They’re doing the rounds this summer too, stopping at the Wickerman Festival in the...
Band name: Son Of Dave, FrYars, Moldy Peaches and more Label: various indie oddities Teaser: Would you slate a band if they knew what street you lived on? That’s the conundrum facing Mat Beal as he reviews this week’s singles, which are full of ASBOs, incest and, er… shoegazing. Take it away Mat! Pull quote 2: Did the early-nineties revival begin without...
Venue: The Fly, London Teaser: Lewis Hingston hits the London Fly to check out a bill that’s erupting with new talent for our mass consumption. No artrock fodder apparently - but plenty of ‘skankable’ indie anthems… read on! Pull quote 2: They take the chance to inject their name repeatedly into one of their songs, showing an opportunist streak learned...
Venue: Hammersmith Apollo, London Teaser: The big bad brooder of Oz is back, and this time he’s got his legendary group in tow. Matt Merritt reports on how they went down during their three night residency in London… Pull quote 2: As Cave left the stage to whoops and cheers after his encore, the audience largely seemed unwilling to leave. First para: A...
Band name: Nick Cave and Warren Ellis Label: Mute Teaser: Nick Cave seems to have flushed the ranting preacherman persona out of his system - but is that necessarily a good thing? Innes Weir reviews… Pull quote 2: the melodies are crying out for his snarling observations and feel still-born without them… First para: With all the bearded brutality of...
